Sweet Paul Meet & Greet

I had the amazing opportunity last Saturday to meet Sweet Paul of Sweet Paul Magazine fame! I have always admired his beautiful magazine & all of the projects involved 🙂 He was touring with Rit-Dye & they had 2 projects set up for everyone to craft with.  I love Rit-Dye too & I’ll be posting a few more fun projects with their dyes in the next few weeks.  I’ve been hoarding a pile of clothes & home DIY’s to re-dye when I can finally get to them.  So I was really excited that these 2 fun crafty companies got together & came to my home town’s Jo-ann Fabric & Crafts Store in Mount Laurel, NJ!IMG_0022.JPG

The first project was making coffee filter flowers.  There were pre-dyed coffee filters & we could build multi-layer flowers with the supplies provided on the craft tables  Look how cute these are:IMG_0011.JPG

Here’s some of the fun colors we got to craft with.   IMG_0013.JPG

I had my daughter Lizzie with me & that made for a very interseting craft time as well.  She of course, made me make a pink flower. IMG_0007.JPG

Our next project was coloring different sized wooden beads for necklaces.  They had out purple, aqua blue, navy blue & black.  Here’s the funny part of my story.  Lizzie started having a mini melt down & we didn’t know why at first.  After a few “piiiiiiiiink” cries I figured it out that she wanted the pink dye for her beads, of course.  Well, the lovely ladies of Rit Dye dropped everything & made Lizzie her own pink dyed bracelet.  Life was so much better & she was completely different from that moment on.  Including telling everyone her life story.  Well that in turn made me happy since I could then craft with 2 hands with no clingy toddler.  The Rit Dye ladies were entertaining her & having a lot of fun too being entertained by a crazy 3 year old.  So much so she became a Twitter & Instagram star 😉  IMG_0159.PNG

SO happy with her new bright pink beaded bracelet/necklace 🙂 We will be having fun turning this into a few different accessories.IMG_0002.JPG

This is mine.  I used the aqua & black dyes.   I take a terrible selfie & I need to step up my selfie game >_<IMG_0008.JPG

Here’s some fun pics of the Sweet Paul & Rit Dye crews dying their beads:IMG_0003-0.JPG

How gorgeous is this?!?!?! I’m definitely trying this really soon! I’ll be heading back to Jo-ann’s this weekend for some more supplies.IMG_0009.JPG

I got some dye on my hands, but one of the ladies gave me a great tip!  Make a scrub with lotion & sugar & scrub away.  It worked! I was going to an All White Gala event that evening funny enough so I had to put that scrub to the test.  More about the Collingswood Pop Up Gala in the next blog post 🙂 IMG_0026.JPG

I picked up a copy of the magazine Sweet Paul & Rit Dye collaborated on.  There are 7 different catagories with a handful of projects in each to make.  It really is a neat craft book & I’ll be doing some tutorials from it within the next few weeks.  I’ll take more pics of it as I start each project, but go to Jo-ann’s & definitely pick one up for yourself! It’s $6 for lots of Dye-IY fun! IMG_0012.JPG

Sweet Paul was kind enough to sign one for me 🙂 IMG_0014.JPG

“Dear Meg, Keep chasing the sweet life. Paul”  Thanks Paul, I will! IMG_0019.JPG

We even got a fun pic together! IMG_0022.JPG

Yay! We made it through with only 1 mini-meltdown, 2 fab projects & we got to meet some great crafty people!

Thank you so much to Sweet Paul & Rit Studios for coming to our area & taking the time to craft with us!! We had a blast! & now I have some new projects I have to work on asap!

Energy, Focus & 39th Birthday :)

As I approach my 39th birthday this weekend I am trying to focus on a few things.  Focus is a huge thing I’m trying to work on, since it seems also attached to my energy or lack there of.  I know what I need to do, but my head has been pulled in many directions that at the same time I’m tired of being tired.  I need to step up my yoga, breathe & be more patient in certain situations & get my energy back.  I know I need these things in my life to help with my personal well being & to be more present for my family, work on my crafting business &  learn what I need to, to keep blogging which is my new love in life.  I may not know much, but it’s something that I’m learning & growing with in small steps so far.  I have a great foundation in awesome friends that have been helping me technically & a very patient husband that hears about many different things that he could normally care less about, lol.   Hopefully the more I learn, the more I can contribute to my family & friends & community around me.  There are so many ideas I have for this blog & I hope I can stay motivated & keep moving right along in many different ways & who knows where this will take me.  Thanks to whoever is reading this & learning along with me too.  Hang in there in my early stages & I’ll keep typing away in hopes that every post gets better & better with my new knowledge, focus & energy 🙂 That is what I hope to accomplish with NutMeg Creative Cafe & the life I’m trying to create around it.  Thank you again & bring it on 39!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m adding this video that I’ve been watching this week to infuse some energy into my life.  As I am learning my “techiness” (that’s a word right?) This is the only way I know how to embed this fab video from Sia right now.  What music or videos help with your energy? Feel free to give me your suggestions & I’ll add them into my newly energized life.

Have a great weekend!!!

New Whole Foods Markets opening

So this happened this past week 🙂 An exciting new Whole Foods Market location right in our neighborhood.  It’ s huge & so many things are brand new specifically for this location.  Anything from made to order on the spot salad dressings, peanut butters, a certified Kosher meat section, plus the ever so cool 21 day curing meat section too that my husband was excited about and so much more.  Someone informed me that they have LED lighting that’s extremely environmentally friendly.  We got to tour before they opened & they made it a fundraiser to raise money towards Sustainable Cherry Hill  https://www.facebook.com/SustainableCherryHill & Cherry Hill school district.

One of the biggest & best in my opinion is their focus on sourcing LOCALLY 🙂 They are passionate about supporting local farms, and small & large businesses.  My favorite is a section called The Hatchery.  This is where local vendors can sell their products in an area made just for them.  I guess the success of the Marlton location vendor nights outside of their store has gone so well that they are more than glad to offer this inside of their stores & I can’t wait to get my crafts in there.  I need new inventory & I’ll be contacting them as soon as I can.

Yummy!!! Looking forward to trying their bagels too

Looks like I need to set up a “meeting” here so I can give my honest opinion on Fresh Brick Oven Pizza!!!! Yay 🙂

This is an absolute dream!!! An over the top Bath & Beauty section!!! They have everything they need to make specific products that work for you! I’d love to create some girls/moms day out event soley around this section, hehe.  That’s how much I love this area!!!

Love this upcycled bottle chandelier!

Here’s who got to set up in the Hatchery in it’s opening week.  (Hatchery photo courtesy of Whole Foods)

They also have their own artists making the fantastic signs that are displayed in all parts of the store.  Creativity at it’s finest!

A group of young steppers from Camden were there! So much fun energy at 8:30 in the morning!

I’d love to figure out what & how to serve these with

I love unique produce!!!

Instead of a ribbon cutting, they have a break the bread ceremony.  It was the warmest & freshest & Biggest chalah I’ve ever seen!! Soooo good.

Nice touch huh?

So this is just the beginning of having a great new energetic business in the Ellisburg Shopping Center.  I am looking forward to what I can learn through them & who I can meet as well from the neighborhood.  I’ll let you know about my success of getting into the Hatcher.  Meet me for a fresh cup of coffee there soon!
